Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Mainl-Reisinger stated that the country does not aim to join NATO and considers it beneficial to maintain its neutrality status. He stated this in an interview with Bloomberg.
According to him, Austria's non-membership in NATO gives the country certain advantages. He also emphasized the importance of prioritizing dialogue in any geopolitical situation. "We are not members of NATO, and I am not in favor of joining. "This has its advantages," the minister said.
Meanwhile, Maynl-Reisinger noted that Austria's security policy needs to be reviewed in accordance with the new geopolitical realities. In his opinion, the concept of neutrality should not be used as a weapon in the interests of Russia.
On September 1, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stoker also stated that the country's NATO membership is not on the agenda, and Austria's neutral status is not in question.
