Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on US President Donald Trump's remarks on the Ukrainian conflict. He emphasized that the Washington leader's emotional approach to this topic is natural, as he is trying to stop the war.
Journalists asked Peskov how he reacted to Vladimir Putin's accusation by Trump of "cheating." In response to this, the Kremlin representative stated:
"We believe that the United States and President Trump personally will maintain their political will. He is taking a very emotional approach to this topic, and this is perfectly understandable.
At the same time, Peskov emphasized that Vladimir Putin supports a diplomatic settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. In his opinion, the Kremlin is doing a lot of work in this direction. However, Moscow stated that "the Kyiv regime and some European countries are dragging out the process by choosing the path of resistance."
It should be recalled that Donald Trump, in his speech on September 18, said that due to his relationship with Putin, he thought that the war between Russia and Ukraine could be resolved more easily, but "his Russian counterpart betrayed him."
Peskov's statement indicates that Moscow has not closed its communication opportunities with Washington. At the same time, the situation around Ukraine still remains a point of serious disagreement between the West and Russia.
