According to police, the bodies of three transgender individuals, who died with gunshot wounds, were found on the roadside after midnight near Memon Got in southern Karachi. Officially, it is said that the authorities are currently in the process of identifying the identity and determining the cause.
City police spokesperson Javed Ahmad Abro told AFP: "The bullet-pierced bodies of three transgender women were found on the highway." Amnesty International notes an increase in violence against trans (migration) communities.
In 2018, the Senate approved a law protecting the rights of transgender people, but its main parts were subsequently repealed by the Sharia court. It is estimated that there are about half a million transgender citizens in the country; they face the risks of social exclusion and violence. According to The Lancet's 2023 data, 90% of trans individuals experience physical violence.
