Kazakhstan signed a historic $4 billion contract with the US

Kazakhstan has agreed to sign the largest locomotive delivery contract in history with the US. According to US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnik, the agreement was reached after a meeting between Donald Trump and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Lütnik emphasized that this agreement will provide support for one of the key sectors of the industry. The $4 billion contract and the agreement with the American company Wabtec provide for the production and maintenance of 300 freight locomotives in Kazakhstan.

Tokayev's press service disclosed the details of the agreement. This agreement is also aimed at strengthening the location of the Wabtec locomotive assembly plant in Astana, Kazakhstan, which has been operating since 2009. 230 million dollars were invested, more than 600 locomotives were produced, and the level of localization of production reached 45 percent.

At the same time, Wabtec expanded its activities, establishing a technological center in Kazakhstan for the implementation of innovations and training of engineers.

This agreement will make a great contribution to the further strengthening of the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the USA. The increase in large-scale agreements will serve as an important factor in the industrial and economic development of both countries.
