Two passenger planes collide in Moscow

Yesterday, September 24, two passenger planes collided at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow. This was reported by the Federal Air Transport Agency of Russia — Rosaviatsiya.

According to preliminary information, a Superjet 100 aircraft of the airline “Rossiya,” preparing for a flight to Saint Petersburg, collided with an Airbus A330 of Hainan Airlines returning to Beijing during pre-flight preparations. The incident occurred on the runway, and no passengers were injured.

According to “Rossiya,” the wing of the other aircraft struck the rear of the Superjet 100, causing technical damage. The Hainan Airlines plane was temporarily grounded for inspection.

Attention was given to passengers: those on the Saint Petersburg flight were transported to their destination by a reserve aircraft, while 264 passengers of the Beijing flight were accommodated in a hotel until the reserve aircraft arrived. Rosaviatsiya announced that a special commission would be formed to investigate the incident.

The case once again highlighted the importance of passenger safety and technical inspection and monitoring at airports.
