NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that he supports taking strict measures against Russian combat aircraft.
“I support Trump’s calls. If a Russian aircraft violates NATO airspace, it must be shot down,” he said in an interview with Fox News.
It should be recalled that U.S. President Donald Trump, at a press conference with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, said that NATO countries may destroy Russian planes that enter their airspace.
At the same time, when asked: “If Europe shoots down a Russian aircraft, will the U.S. support them?” Trump did not give a clear answer, saying only that “it depends on the situation.”
