SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk has revealed new goals for the future of humanity in space. He emphasized that thanks to advanced advancements in heavy-duty missile technology, it will be possible to establish an independent and self-sufficient city on the Red Planet by 2055.
According to Musk, to implement the project, flights to Mars will be based on orbital capabilities that open every two years. Thus, the planet must be regularly supplied with housing modules, food production infrastructure, energy systems, robotic assistants, as well as essential materials for the electronics and rocket industries.
Currently, SpaceX is developing a new generation of Starship V3 rocket systems. It is capable of launching more than 100 tons of cargo into orbit and is being built on the principle of complete reuse. For comparison, the previous version was 121 meters, while the updated V3 system will have a height of 124.4 meters.
According to the company's plan, it is planned to send the first unmanned missions to Mars using Starship V3 at the beginning of next year. Musk emphasized that for humanity to live sustainably on another planet, all the "pillars of civilization" - industry, food supply, energy sources, and technological systems - must be implemented simultaneously.
