TikTok valued at $14 billion in the US, deal struck

An important agreement has been reached around TikTok, which is considered one of the largest social networks in the United States. It is reported that a new deal was signed regarding the separation from the main company ByteDance, and the U.S. division of the application was valued at approximately 14 billion dollars. This was announced by White House Vice President J.D. Vance.

President Donald Trump signed an order in the Oval Office, setting a 120-day deadline to finalize and implement the terms of the agreement. According to analysts, this step is of decisive importance for the future of TikTok in the U.S.

Under the terms of the agreement, Oracle Corporation, the private investment fund Silver Lake, and the sovereign fund MGX based in Abu Dhabi will own 45 percent of TikTok’s shares in the U.S. ByteDance will retain 19.9 percent, while the remaining 35 percent will be held by American investors.

According to the information released by the White House, the new deal will transfer control over TikTok’s algorithms and content moderation processes to the joint enterprise. At the same time, Oracle will participate as the main manager of data security and the application’s recommendation system. The aim is to ensure the safety of the platform for U.S. users and the protection of their personal data.

In addition, the agreement notes the participation of prominent investors — Rupert Murdoch and Michael Dell. Currently, TikTok has more than 170 million monthly active users in the U.S., making it one of the most popular platforms in the country.

However, the deal also has an international political side. It was carried out in the context of negotiations with China. President Trump positively assessed his dialogue with Xi Jinping and noted that Beijing gave its approval to the agreement. At the same time, some politicians express concern that the terms of the deal may not ensure full control over the algorithm.

According to experts, this agreement may mark a new stage for TikTok. It will not only strengthen its position in the market but also influence the development of economic relations between the U.S. and China.
