The secrets of an 88-year disappearance are being revealed to the public

88 years of disappearance secrets are being revealed to the public

One of the most mysterious events in 20th-century aviation in the USA has come back on the agenda. President Donald Trump ordered the declassification and release of government documents related to the case of the famous female aviator Amelia Earhart, who disappeared without a trace during a flight in 1937. He personally announced this on the social network Truth Social.

"Many people have asked me about Amelia Earhart's life and times, and about her final, fatal flight. Therefore, I am considering the possibility of opening and presenting all information related to her, especially documents held by the government," Trump wrote.

The president described Earhart's disappearance as "an event that captured the imagination of millions." According to him, the documents may reveal not only new facts about the final flight but also about the pilot's entire life.

It is known that in 1937 Amelia Earhart, along with her navigator Fred Noonan, set out to fly around the world in a Lockheed L-10E Electra aircraft. The main part of the route was successfully completed, but on July 2 the crew was unable to reach Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean and disappeared without a trace. The plane was scheduled to refuel exactly there.

At that time, President Franklin Roosevelt allocated 4 million dollars for search operations, involving hundreds of aircraft and ships. However, neither Earhart nor her navigator was found. It was only later reported that wreckage of the plane was discovered at the bottom of the ocean.

The causes of the disappearance still open the door to various hypotheses: forced ocean landing and crash, capture by Japanese military, or even fantastic versions such as "living under another name."

Amelia Earhart (1897–1937) was one of the symbolic figures of her era. In 1932 she entered history as the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. This courage brought her worldwide fame and great prestige as the beginning of the "era of women" in aviation.

Trump's decision not only raises hopes to uncover historical secrets but also to answer questions that have been debated in society for many years.
