An unusual incident in Uzbekistan has drawn the attention of both local and international communities. A video message circulated on social media showed a U.S. citizen stating that he could not leave the country in his “Lamborghini.” Following discussions around the case, the press secretary of the Chairman of the Customs Committee issued an official statement.
According to the report, the foreign citizen had exceeded the permitted stay of his expensive sports car in Uzbekistan by nearly two months. As a result, the vehicle was temporarily prohibited from leaving the country, and a payment was required to resolve the matter.
Customs authorities stated that the American driver paid the fee of 23 million 72 thousand soums in accordance with the regulations and was released from administrative liability. After all procedures were completed, the foreign citizen was allowed to leave the country in his “Lamborghini.”
At the same time, difficulties arose in carrying out banking operations. Since the foreigner could not exchange currency or withdraw cash during the weekend, the process was delayed, and the issue was only resolved later.
It should be noted that, under current law, foreign vehicles cannot remain in Uzbekistan for more than 90 days. In this case, the sports car entered the country on May 2, 2025, and the deadline for taking it out was set for August 2. Although the foreign citizen had been warned about this in advance, he failed to comply with the rules, resulting in the fine.
Officials stressed that such cases once again highlight the principle of equality before the law. Rule violations bring the same responsibility for both local residents and foreign visitors.
