The US Department of the Treasury announced new sanctions against companies and individuals supporting Iran’s military-industrial complex.
According to the information, a total of 21 companies and 17 individuals were added to the sanctions list. They are accused of supplying technologies and equipment for Iran’s military needs.
The restrictions target networks operating in Iran, China, Hong Kong, Germany, Turkey, Portugal, and Uruguay that supply equipment for ballistic missiles, air defense systems, helicopters, and military aircraft.
The US government stated that these networks help strengthen Iran’s military capabilities and pose a threat to the security of US troops, ships, and citizens.
All assets of the sanctioned companies and individuals in the US will be frozen, and any financial operations with them are prohibited. Violations may result in civil or criminal liability, including secondary sanctions for foreign financial institutions.
The decision is being viewed as another sharp step in US-Iran relations.
