The French Ministry of Internal Affairs, unlike the rallies and strikes on September 18th, estimates that more than 400,000 people will participate in the demonstrations organized by trade unions this time.
According to the newspaper Le Figaro, officials note that the number of protesters will not exceed 400 thousand, which is less than the number of participants in the protests on September 18. At that time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs estimated 100,000 people, while trade unions claimed that 1 million people participated. At these rallies, it was noted that supporters of the online movement operated under the slogan "Block Everything!" and there was a risk of unrest. Following this, more than 80,000 police officers were mobilized, and public safety was ensured after the detention of more than 300 people.
In addition, on October 2, officials expect protests to intensify in cities such as Nantes, Rennes, Toulouse, Lyon, and Dijon. Also, although the authorities did not determine how many police and gendarmes would be mobilized to maintain order in the European part of France, the Prefect of the Paris Police, Laurent Nunes, promised to involve 5,000 officers to monitor the streets of Paris.
