On October 10, in the Philippines, as a result of two powerful earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.4 and 6.7, at least seven people were killed.
This was reported by the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). According to the official report, 8,436 people were affected by the disaster, of whom 1,265 were evacuated to safe areas, and another 7,915 were forced to leave their homes.
In a statement from the Civil Defense Agency, it was emphasized that 7 people died, and another 11 suffered various injuries as a result of the earthquake.
Strong tremors were recorded in the southern coastal areas of Mindanao Island.
It should be noted that on September 30, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake also occurred on the western coast of Palompon, during which more than 70 people were killed.
The Philippines is considered one of the most seismically active countries in the world. The country is located in the Pacific “Ring of Fire” zone, known for its high volcanic and earthquake activity.
