Lawrence Watkins, a resident of New Zealand, changed his surname, adding a second name consisting of 2,253 words, and entered the Guinness Book of Records. This was reported by the Daily Mail.
Watkins officially changed her name in March 1990 and appealed to the district court to register this record. Although the court initially accepted his request, a subsequent refusal was recorded.
Nevertheless, Watkins did not give up and brought the case to the Supreme Court of New Zealand. The Supreme Court recognized her performance and officially registered her as the holder of the world's longest name. However, to prevent such situations from recurring, two laws were amended in the country.
In the Guinness Book of Records, Watkins' full name occupies about 6 pages. He said that he was always inspired by record-breaking people and dreamed of being on this stage.
