Zelenskyy stripped Odessa Mayor and Polunin of their citizenship

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stripped several individuals of their citizenship. The publication "Suspilne" reported this, citing a source in the presidential office.

Among those deprived of citizenship are Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, former People's Deputy Oleg Saryov, and renowned ballet dancer Sergey Polunin.

"It was established that some individuals have Russian citizenship. In this regard, I signed a decree on their renunciation of Ukrainian citizenship," Zelenskyy said.

Recall that in early October, ten people died in Odessa as a result of heavy rains. After that, residents of the city signed a petition to the president requesting the deprivation of citizenship of Mayor Trukhanov, which was signed by more than 25,000 people within 24 hours.

Gennady Trukhanov denied the accusations, stating that he did not have a Russian passport and that these claims were "used for political purposes."
