A federal court in California has temporarily blocked President Donald Trump’s plan to lay off thousands of government workers. The decision was made following a lawsuit filed by labor unions.
Judge Susan Illston ordered to stop the planned layoffs in more than 30 government agencies.
The White House had earlier warned that over 4,000 employees would be laid off. Trump said the move was aimed at reducing government spending.
The court requested detailed information about the process from the administration. The unions consider Trump’s decision illegal.
