The British publication The Guardian has released new sensational information about Jared Kushner, the son-in-law and close advisor to US President Donald Trump. The publication writes that Kushner mediated the cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip, but there is a possibility of significant commercial interests behind it, according to theguardian.com.
As is known, the Gaza war, which lasted two years and resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians, ended on October 10. Trump announced the end of the war in his speech in the Israeli parliament. In this process, Jared Kushner, who officially held no position, played a key role in negotiating and reaching an agreement with Trump's Middle East representative, Steve Whitkoff.
However, according to The Guardian, this "peacekeeping mission" may be Kushner's plan for personal gain. Because he manages an investment fund called "Affinity Partners" - this fund has received billions of dollars in investments from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE.
Construction and restoration work is expected to begin in the enclave after the end of the Gaza war. In this process, it is the "Affinity Partners" fund that can make a large profit as the main investor.
Former diplomats who spoke with journalists reported that Kushner and billionaire Steve Whitkoff are promoting a large-scale reconstruction program in Gaza. Within the framework of the project, the construction of new residential buildings, hotels, and a port is planned.
Matt Dass, Vice President of the Center for International Policy, called this situation an "open conflict of interest." In his opinion, Trump and his entourage may be viewing the Middle East peace process as a business opportunity.
"This is not only diplomacy, but also big business. There's also the question of who benefits from the process of ending the war," says Dass.
The White House denied these accusations. A spokesperson for the presidential administration, Caroline Levitt, defended Jared Kushner as "a person striving for peace around the world."
For information, Kushner was born in 1981 into the family of developer Charles Kushner and married Ivanka, the daughter of Donald Trump, in 2009. The Kushner family has a long-standing relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During Trump's presidency, Jared Kushner played an important role in Middle Eastern politics as his advisor.
It should be noted that the idea of relocating the population of Gaza to Egypt and Jordan and transforming the enclave into the "Middle East River" is also emphasized as an initiative of Jared Kushner.
Today, the question of whether there are billions of dollars' worth of interests behind this "peace plan" is being actively discussed worldwide.
