At least seven people, including two children, were killed in Russia’s latest attacks on Ukraine. A kindergarten in Kharkiv and homes in the Kyiv region were hit. According to officials, 27 people were injured, including children.
The incident came after the cancellation of a planned meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Budapest. Trump said he did not want a “wasted meeting”. Zelensky said the attacks showed that pressure on Russia was still insufficient.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said preparations for the meeting were continuing. According to him, “both presidents are interested in the meeting,” but no exact date had been agreed yet.
During his visit to Norway, Zelensky said he had tried to obtain long-range “Tomahawk” missiles from Trump, but the issue remained unresolved. He described Trump’s proposal to freeze the front line as “a good compromise”, but added that Putin would not support it.
Ukrainian military officials said that before the attacks, they had struck a chemical plant in Russia’s Bryansk region. They stated that the plant produced explosives and fuel used by Russia in the war.
