
Russia carried out missile and drone strikes on Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine overnight. According to official data, two people were killed and 13 injured. Fires broke out in several buildings, including a kindergarten, after the attack.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Sviridenko said the strikes targeted civilian and energy facilities. According to her, Russia is trying to create a humanitarian crisis during the winter season.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the strikes targeted Ukraine’s military-industrial complex and energy infrastructure. It also said that Russian forces shot down 121 Ukrainian drones, seven of which were heading toward Moscow.
Large clouds of smoke rose over Kyiv as firefighters worked to extinguish the fires. Since the beginning of the year, Russia has launched 770 ballistic missiles and more than 50 “Kinzhal” missiles.
Ukraine’s air forces shot down 4 of 9 missiles and 50 of 62 drones. Meanwhile, 11 facilities across the country were hit. Officials urged citizens to remain vigilant and follow safety rules.
