Special Representative of the President of Russia and Head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev visited the USA and held a series of meetings with representatives of the Trump administration. He emphasized that Moscow is interested in ending the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible, cnn.com reports.
Dmitriev openly expressed this position in an interview with CNN:
"We do not want this conflict to drag on in any way. We all hope for a diplomatic solution. Russia supports the restoration of peace and is ready for negotiations," he said.
According to him, Russia considers it important to ensure stability and restore economic cooperation in the current geopolitical situation. In this regard, Dmitriev's visit to the USA is aimed at reviving bilateral dialogue.
It was reported that the special representative of the Russian president discussed investment, security, and the restoration of diplomatic relations during talks with representatives of the Trump administration.
As Dmitriev emphasized, the military actions are negatively impacting not only Ukraine but the entire regional economy. "We believe that true stability can only be achieved through a political solution," he said.
According to analysts, Moscow is striving to open a new page in dialogue with the West by intensifying diplomatic actions. At the same time, certain circles from the US side also express their support for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
International observers assess this visit as a possible first step towards easing relations between the two countries.
