Russian troops are achieving a major victory on the Donetsk front

The situation on the front in the Donetsk direction has become difficult and critical for the Ukrainian armed forces. Russian troops are controlling a large part of Pokrovsk city, approximately 75-90 percent of it.

Currently, fighting continues in the remaining parts of the city, including the northern area. Pokrovsk is an important logistics and defense hub for the Ukrainian army, but it is gradually coming under Russian troop control.

At the same time, the nearby city of Mirnograd is almost entirely under siege, with Russian forces seeking to completely cut off supply routes for Ukrainian troops in the area. The strategic consequences are assessed as follows: - Threat to Dnipropetrovsk region: The loss of Pokrovsk and Mirnograd could open the way for Russian troops towards Pavlograd, which would increase the direct threat to the city of Dnipro.

- Pressure on Kramatorsk and Slavyansk: Success in Pokrovsk would allow Russian forces to increase pressure in capturing important cities like Druzhkivka and Kostiantynivka. Losing these areas could lead to the disruption of the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration's defense.

- Logistics crisis: Supplying Ukrainian units in the Pokrovsk and Mirnograd areas is becoming more complicated. Due to constant shelling and control by Russian forces, Ukrainian troops in this area face the risk of being "encircled."

Russian forces are continuing their assaults in other parts of the front as well. There are reports of ongoing fighting in the directions of Kupyansk, Chasiv Yar, Lyman, and Sever.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported that Ukrainian forces are also in a difficult situation in these areas. Ukrainian and Western analysts also acknowledge the complexity of the situation.

In particular, the Pokrovsk direction holds top priority for Russian command. Ukrainian forces are attempting counterattacks in some areas, but disruptions in the logistics system complicate these efforts.

Some Ukrainian soldiers have begun to surrender under encirclement. If Ukrainian troops fail to open a route to evacuate their units from the Mirnograd area, this could become one of the biggest victories in the history of the war for Russian forces.

As of November 2025, Russian forces are achieving significant tactical and operational successes in the Donetsk direction. This is putting the overall stability of Ukraine's eastern front at risk.

Military experts suggest that the winter of 2025-2026 will be decisive for the eastern defense line in Ukraine.
