New details have emerged regarding the tragic death of young Chechen woman Aishat Baymuradova in Armenia. According to the Investigative Committee, a criminal case has been initiated against two individuals in connection with the execution of a 23-year-old girl. It has been officially confirmed that they are currently wanted.
According to reports, the case was opened under the article "intentional homicide under aggravating circumstances" of the Criminal Code of Armenia. Investigators took testimony from a number of witnesses, conducted a search of the house where the deceased lived, and ordered fingerprints and forensic medical examinations.
Although the names of the figures were not disclosed, it is said that their direction has been determined. According to the law enforcement version, the suspects may have left the territory of Armenia and possibly fled to Russia.
Ayshat Baymuradova has been living in Armenia since January of this year. On October 17, neighbors in her rented house reported her disappearance. They said that the girl went on a date with a woman she knew on Instagram on October 15 and did not return after that. After that, leaflets with the girl's picture and the inscription "Escape from domestic violence in Chechnya" were distributed on the streets of Yerevan.
On October 20, police found Baymuradova's body in a rented house. Human rights activist Lidiya Mikhalchenko stated that the girl was strangled. It was also noted that a man and a woman are being identified as suspects, who have left for Russia.
Armenian human rights activist Artur Sakuns told DW that the woman suspected of involvement in this crime is Karina Iminova, who was prosecuted in Russia in 2021 under the article "threat of murder with the use of a knife," and the case was later closed.
The Telegram channel "Careful, News!" reported that on the day of the girl's murder, surveillance cameras identified two individuals - Iminova and 30-year-old Chechen citizen Said-Khamzat Baysarov - who had left the house. According to the source, Baysarov was previously mentioned in Russia in the case of financing ISIS, but was later acquitted by the court. He was also investigated several times on charges of drunk driving and robbery.
Currently, the Armenian prosecutor's office and law enforcement agencies are considering the issue of announcing an international search for Iminova and Baysarov.
Currently, the public is closely monitoring this case. Because the death of Aishat Baymuradova was not only a personal tragedy, but also demonstrated the lack of a protective system for the victims of violence. Armenian human rights activists and international organizations emphasize the need for a transparent investigation of this case and the punishment of the perpetrators.
