During a conversation with journalists at the White House, US President Donald Trump openly stated that the fate of the war in Ukraine depends on Kyiv's decisions. He emphasized that the new "peace plan" presented by Washington to the Ukrainian leadership is a rare opportunity to stop the fighting on the front lines. Trump believes that if Zelenskyy rejects this proposal, the war will continue at its peak.
According to the president's firm statement, in any negotiation, the capabilities of the parties are of decisive importance. "Recently, I told him openly here in his Oval Office: 'You don't have cards,'" Trump said, pointing to the weakening of Ukraine's position. According to him, Kyiv is under heavy information and military pressure, especially with the arrival of the winter season, the economic and energy crisis may worsen.
Trump recalled the intensity of repeated mass attacks on the Ukrainian energy system. He believes that the approaching harsh winter could force Kyiv to make unintentional but sharp political decisions. "In any case, Zelenskyy will still have a choice," the US leader said.
Meanwhile, some international publications are reporting that Trump and Zelenskyy may meet in the coming days. According to him, the leaders of the two countries are expected to continue negotiations on the main points of the "peace plan." Reuters reported that US officials mentioned the possibility of temporarily halting arms and intelligence supplies to persuade Kyiv to agree to the deal.
