Former French leader Nicolas Sarkozy, who is currently celebrating his 70th birthday, has announced the publication of his new work, dedicated to the 20 days of his life behind bars.
According to a report published by "Fayar," the book openly describes the politician's emotional experiences during his imprisonment. Describing the atmosphere of the famous "La Santa" prison, Sarkozy emphasizes the constant noise there.
"There's no work to do or anything to distract from in prison. In La Santa, where various voices and noise cease, I completely forgot what silence and tranquility were," the excerpt from the book states.
The author writes that the noise in the camera never stops. He compared life in prison to a deserted "desert," where a real spiritual struggle for survival takes place.
"Convict's Diary"
The new work, titled "Nicolas Sarkozy: The Convict's Diary," will be available on bookstore shelves starting December 10th of this year. Notably, the book consists of 216 pages. This means that Sarkozy devoted an average of 11 pages to describing each day of his life, which lasted only 20 days in prison.
For reference
On November 10, 2025, the Paris Court of Appeal granted the request for Sarkozy's release, taking into account the evidence presented by his lawyers. The former president, who has been in custody since October 21 of this year, is now free but under judicial supervision. The French Prosecutor General's Office did not object to this court decision.
Thematic
A wave of arrests continues among world politicians. Recall that the former president of Brazil, 70-year-old Jair Bolsonaro, was also arrested today by the country's federal police. According to the verdict of the Supreme Court, he was sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison.
