A major project for the construction of a new port in the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan, is starting. The choice of China's Zhongyong International Group as a strategic partner was announced via Kazakhstan Today.
The investment value is estimated at $300 million. The company is registered in the country and is currently preparing the necessary documents for signing the investment agreement.
According to regional governor Nurdaulet Kilibay, the new port will form an important international transport corridor along the China - Kazakhstan - Aktau - Baku - Poti - Europe route. After the project is implemented, the delivery time will be reduced by 7-15 days, transportation costs will decrease by 18-25 percent, and new jobs will be created.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov instructed to strictly control the construction process of the container center. The Ministry of Transport will submit a practical report by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
Bektenov emphasized that regional administrations must fully provide access to land plots, utility networks, and road and railway infrastructure.
As is known, the largest container center in the Caspian Sea was launched in Aktau this summer.
Also, at the meeting in Tashkent on November 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the enormous potential of Trans-Caspian routes and proposed the creation of a joint council for infrastructure development.
