In Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, a massive LED-display was erected between the Ukrainian Embassy and the new residence of the Kyrgyz President, "Intimak Ordo". This occurred just before the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the city and the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). According to journalist Grigory Pirlik, this structure, the height of several stories, hides the national flag on the territory of the Ukrainian Embassy from view from the residence.
FSO Demand or Coincidence?
The press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan explained the official purpose of the screen as "displaying state video content and providing visual accompaniment to protocol events." However, a number of media outlets directly linked this to Putin's visit. Denis Avtonomov, adviser to the Ukrainian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, commented briefly: "The connection undoubtedly exists." Political commentator Turat Akimov linked this to the activities of Russia's FSO (Presidential Security Service), suggesting that the special services employees might have considered the possibility of a threat arising for Putin from the territory of the Ukrainian Embassy.
Putin's New Threats and the Peace Plan
Putin spoke at a press conference following the CSTO summit held at "Intimak Ordo". The Russian leader confirmed that a US delegation would arrive in Moscow in early December to discuss Donald Trump's peace plan. He said that Moscow is ready to accept the US-approved plan to stop the war as the basis for future agreements. At the same time, Putin declared in a threatening tone: Russia will continue military actions until it is handed over the territories that it itself demands in Eastern Ukraine, and promised that if Ukrainian troops do not withdraw, Russia will achieve this "by armed means."
Kyiv's Firm Rejection
Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, announced in an interview with The Atlantic on November 27th that Kyiv is not discussing the issue of ceding territories. He emphasized that the Constitution does not allow this, and as long as Volodymyr Zelenskyy is president, "no one should hope" for the recognition of occupied territories in favor of Russia. According to Yermak, the only thing Kyiv is ready to talk about now is discussing the line of demarcation separating the territories controlled by the warring parties.
