In Miami, US and Ukrainian officials are actively negotiating a possible peace roadmap aimed at ending the large-scale war initiated by Russia. According to the Axios portal, at the meetings held on Friday, representatives of the two countries discussed a number of proposals and new ideas for the gradual easing of the conflict.
On the Ukrainian side, the negotiations are headed by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, and the Chief of the General Staff, Andriy Gnatov. They held a two-hour meeting yesterday with US President Donald Trump's special representatives - Stephen Whitkoff and Jared Kushner, who were in Moscow at the beginning of the week. It was reported that the conversation took place in a "positive spirit." Today's negotiations continued, and another round is scheduled for Saturday.
Whitkoff and Kushner's conversation with the Ukrainian delegation is taking place after their five-hour meeting with Putin on December 2 in Moscow. After the negotiations in Moscow, the Russian side stated that "a compromise option for the peace formula is not visible." Therefore, the discussions in Miami are considered an important stage aimed at mitigating the contradictions in the positions of both sides.
According to a Axios source, US representatives briefed the Ukrainian delegation on the details of the conversation in Moscow and new proposals that could help overcome the points of conflict.
Interestingly, although the official statements made by Ukraine and Russia to the public differ greatly, Washington still maintains the belief that there is a possibility of reaching a compromise even on the most critical points, such as the territorial issue.
While the future address of the war is being determined through such dialogues, the negotiations in Miami remain at the center of attention of the international community.
