In recent days, there has been an increase in reports of Uzbek citizens in Egypt being detained by local law enforcement agencies. In light of this, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Cairo has issued an official statement. The diplomatic mission is urging citizens to strictly adhere to local laws and regulations to prevent negative incidents.
The embassy noted that inspections regarding compliance with migration laws and public order have been intensified in Cairo and other major cities in Egypt. In particular, strict administrative measures, including deportation, are being enforced against foreign nationals staying in the country illegally, those without valid visas or residence permits, and individuals violating public order.
The embassy emphasized that it is currently holding discussions with relevant Egyptian law enforcement agencies regarding these incidents. At the same time, the diplomats are calling on all Uzbek citizens to remain cautious and to approach legal requirements responsibly.
Specifically, the embassy strongly recommends that Uzbek nationals in Egypt carry identification documents, such as their passport, at all times, ensure they are in the country legally by maintaining a valid visa or obtaining temporary or permanent residence permits (iqama), refrain from engaging in employment activities without proper authorization, and promptly extend the validity of their visa and residence permits.
The embassy highlighted that by complying with these rules, it is possible to avoid unfavorable situations, fines, and severe consequences such as deportation.
