Zelensky: Had a "very good" conversation with Uitkoff and Kushner...

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had a phone conversation with U.S. Special Representative Steve Uitkoff and U.S. Presidential Advisor Jared Kushner. According to the head of state, the discussion took place in a “very good and meaningful” atmosphere.

On December 25, Zelensky noted on his page on the social media platform X that during the discussion, important aspects of the work were reviewed. He mentioned there are a number of constructive ideas that serve the shared outcome and could lead to sustainable peace.

The Ukrainian president expressed his sincere gratitude to his American counterparts for their open and practical approach, proactive collaboration, and warm greetings to Ukrainians on the occasion of Christmas. As Zelensky highlighted, Kyiv is currently operating continuously, around the clock, given the present circumstances.

— We are fully mobilized to bring closer an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine, to make all decisions and documents practical, effective, and reliable, — he remarked.

It was revealed that a day earlier, Zelensky reported certain concessions were achieved in the updated and finalized version of a plan agreed upon between the U.S. and Kyiv, aimed at halting the war. Currently, this document is under review by Moscow.

The plan proposed by the Ukrainian president consists of 20 points, including the temporary “freezing” of existing frontlines. Furthermore, the document opens prospects for the phased withdrawal of troops and the establishment of demilitarized zones.

In essence, Kyiv is actively advancing on the diplomatic front. Such negotiations with the U.S. indicate that efforts to stop the war are entering a new phase.
