The UN convened an emergency meeting following the US "Venezuela operation"

On January 3, after the US military operation in Venezuela, the UN decided to hold an emergency meeting. The organization assessed the US military actions as a violation of international law and the creation of dangerous factors. UN Secretary-General António Guterres, noting that this military operation could create serious problems in international relations, called on the parties to return to dialogue.
Guterres also stated that the violation of any country's sovereign right and the use of force against them can hinder the stability of international relations. UN General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock, in turn, commenting on the situation, emphasized that during a crisis, all states should rely on the UN Charter. According to it, the use of force or threats against sovereign states is considered contrary to international law and practice.
Following this implementation, the UN Security Council convened an emergency meeting on January 5 at 10:00 a.m. New York time. This meeting is expected to be held to prevent clashes between international parties and to clarify the situation through diplomatic actions.
Concerns and opinions are growing that this UN call has further intensified the struggle behind global political and diplomatic relations. Holding an emergency meeting plays an important role in maintaining international law and peace.
