U.S. President Donald Trump said he does not believe Russia’s claim that Ukraine allegedly struck Putin’s residence. He told reporters this aboard Air Force One while returning from Florida to Washington, D.C.
“I don’t believe that strike happened,” Trump said. “There is something that happened nearby, but it had nothing to do with this.”
According to the Russian government, Kyiv tried to strike Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region with 91 long-range drones. Moscow said it would review its position in talks with the U.S. on ending the Ukraine war.
Ukraine and Western countries have disputed Russia’s report of the alleged attack and do not recognize its accuracy.
