Reza Pahlavi calls for protests and strikes in Iran

Prince Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s last shah, urged the country’s people to hold nationwide strikes and help protesters take control of cities. He said the goal is not only to take to the streets, but to prepare to seize cities and defend them.

In his address, the prince said: “We will not limit ourselves to strikes in the streets. We must achieve our goal by taking cities, gathering large crowds in their central areas, and uniting different segments of society.”

He also called on the military to side with the people to weaken the “repression machine” and “disable it completely.” Prince Reza Pahlavi said he is preparing to return home with the victory of the revolution and stand with the people.

The prince said: “I believe the day of the revolution’s victory will come.”

Protests that began in Iran in December 2022 are spreading across the country. Reports say police have detained thousands and more than 200 people have been killed.
