Reports have emerged that the Kremlin has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. It is said that the Russian side promised that if there is a meeting, security will be "fully guaranteed" and all conditions for work will be created.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov explained the position on this matter as follows: Moscow has not abandoned such contacts, but the meeting should be thoroughly prepared, not rushed. He emphasized that the negotiations must be aimed at a clear positive outcome.
Another important point: Ushakov said that US President Donald Trump also raised the issue of meeting Zelenskyy with Putin. But the Kremlin's approach has not changed - a "pre-agreed, well-prepared format" is required.
It is reported that the Putin side has previously spoken about such a meeting, but has expressed doubts about its expediency. The reason cited is that Moscow has been raising the issue of Zelenskyy's authority.
Can Zelenskyy go to Moscow?
The predictions presented in the text are also noteworthy. Political scientist Konstantin Blokhin said that the likelihood of Zelenskyy's arrival in Moscow is low: if he refuses to come, Kyiv may demand a meeting in a third country or look for various excuses to refuse. This is the expert's view, not an official position.
On the Ukrainian side, there are reports that in an official statement, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the invitation to meet in Moscow was unacceptable and invited Kyiv as an alternative.
In short: there are many offers on the pitch now, but the distance to the real match is still long. The decisive thing here is not "which city," but "what conditions" and "what will be agreed upon."
