At Manises Airport near the Spanish city of Valencia, an unexpected incident surprised many people. A 24-year-old man climbed onto an aircraft that was ready for departure and put on a “show” on its roof.
According to reports, the incident happened on February 2. It is still unclear how the Moroccan citizen managed to enter the restricted area of the airport. He went up the stairs onto a Vueling Airlines Airbus A320 and then appeared on the top of the aircraft.
Witnesses say he danced on the roof of the plane, used hand gestures as if mocking people below, and interfered with the work of airport staff. It is also noted that he took a sip from the drink in his hand, acted as if he spat, and then threw the container to the ground. After that, he ran along the roof of the plane twice and continued deliberately distracting the staff.
As a result, three officers of the Civil Guard persuaded him to come down from the roof. The man came down without resistance and was then sent to the psychiatric department of a hospital in Valencia. For now, it is not known whether any official charges have been brought against him.
Because of this incident, Vueling’s flight that was supposed to depart for Amsterdam was significantly delayed. Passengers were forced to wait for a new flight for about two and a half hours, and then they left for the Netherlands on another aircraft.
