Attack on checkpoint in Pakistan: 12 attackers eliminated

On February 17, a terrorist attack was carried out on a checkpoint located in the Bajaur district of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. This was reported by The Hindu publication.

According to reports, 11 security personnel and one child died as a result of the explosion. Seven more people, including women and children, sustained injuries of varying degrees.

According to the Pakistani army's public relations department, the attack was carried out using an explosive device mounted on a vehicle. The car, filled with explosives, crashed into the wall of the checkpoint, causing a powerful explosion.

According to preliminary information, the attack was carried out by members of the Pakistani Taliban movement. During the security forces' response operation, 12 attackers were eliminated.

The country's President, Asif Ali Zardari, strongly condemned the attack and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. Prime Minister Shahboz Sharif also emphasized that the fight against terrorism remains a priority for the state.
