Ninth missing body found in California avalanche

Rescuers found the body of the ninth skier who went missing after an avalanche on Mount Castle Peak in California. A total of 15 people were trapped under the snow.
As a result, four men and two women were rescued alive. It was reported that the remaining nine skiers were killed.
According to The New York Times, the landslide occurred on February 17th. Six people were rescued after asking for help through the SOS function on their smartphones.
The survivors led the rescuers to the scene where the bodies of three victims were found. Later, the bodies of five more skiers were discovered.
The body of the ninth victim was found a week after the search began. Search and rescue operations were carried out in difficult conditions.
All 15 skiers were members of a group completing a wildlife tour in the Castle Peak area. Among them were four professional guides and a group of friends who frequently visited the area.
According to the publication, a strong snowstorm was expected in the region, and an avalanche warning was in effect before the start of the journey. Therefore, risk factors are predetermined.
