The sun's surface has been cleared of stains: activity in a short break...

On Sunday, February 22, scientists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory at the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences officially confirmed that sunspots on the visible part of the Sun have completely disappeared. Now the Sun's surface appears "absolutely clean," like freshly washed glass.
Notably, the daily sunspot index has dropped to zero. In addition, it was noted that the activity of the flashes also completely stopped for the first time since 2024. That is, the Sun seems to have "paused" for a moment: no spots, no flashes - rest.
But specialists ask us not to rush. They argue that it is incorrect to interpret this situation as the beginning of a global minimum stage. The Earth is now only in a short period of dormancy, observed after the peak of the solar activity cycle of the 25th and 11th generations.
According to scientists, such "quiet days" occur even in phases when the Sun is active. The reason is very simple: old spots turn behind the edge of the solar disk, while new groups of spots do not yet have time to appear. As a result, for some time the Sun remains "simple."
According to Sergey Bogachev, one of the laboratory representatives, this is a temporary situation. Activity may be restored in a few days or even weeks.
Experts believe that such a short break has even beneficial aspects for people. Geomagnetic storms will decrease, the probability of communication system disruptions will decrease, and the risk for satellites and power grids will be relatively low. In short, if the "big generator" in the sky calms down for a moment, Earth's technology will also catch its breath.
For information, sunspots, flashes, and magnetic storms fluctuate at certain intervals. These cyclical changes are called the "solar cycle," and a full cycle lasts an average of 11 years.
