The G7 countries confirmed their support for Ukraine's independence

The world's seven leading industrialized countries (G7) declared their commitment to protecting Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty in a joint document announced on February 24. The statement emphasized that the necessary assistance will continue to be provided to Kyiv to preserve its freedom and right to exist.
Trump's Peace Initiative and the role of Europe
The document specifically notes the peace process promoted by US President Donald Trump. The leaders of the seven expressed their support for the efforts aimed at establishing a direct dialogue between Russia and Ukraine. It is expected that European countries will play a leading role in this process, and other partners will become partners on this path of peace.
At the same time, the G7 firmly established that the final agreement on the cessation of hostilities can be concluded only between the direct participants - Ukraine and Russia.
Nuclear security and the Chernobyl issue
An important part of the statement was devoted to environmental and nuclear security. The leaders agreed to accelerate the process of raising funds for the restoration of the protective coating (sarcophage) at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The goal is to prevent any radiological catastrophe that threatens the entire continent. Additional measures to protect the Ukrainian energy system during the cold winter days were also welcomed.
Principles of Humanity: Return of Children
The G7 countries fully endorsed one of Ukraine's most painful points - the initiative to return forcibly taken Ukrainian children to their homeland "immediately and unconditionally."
This meeting, chaired by France, went down in history as the first joint appearance since Trump's return to the White House. Germany, Great Britain, and France issued a separate statement, reaffirming their commitment to establishing a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
In your opinion, can this statement of the G7 countries accelerate the start of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine?
