Within the framework of the "Green Aral Sea" initiative, planting of saxaul trees has begun

On February 25, participants of the "Aral School" took part in the process of planting saxaul seedlings on the exposed bottom of the Aral Sea as part of the UN Development Programme's "Green Aral Sea" initiative, the ACDF press service reported.
Working together with environmental experts and mentors, the participants contributed to land reclamation work in one of the areas most affected by climate change.
It is reported that each saxaul planted serves as a natural barrier against dust storms. It strengthens the soil and contributes to the long-term sustainable restoration of the ecosystem.
Within the framework of the joint initiative of UNDP, ACDF and Aral School, it is planned to plant saxaul and other halophytes on an area of 90 thousand hectares on the dried bottom of the Aral Sea.
