The tension in the Middle East has reached an even higher point. The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the launch of a wave of missile and drone counterattacks in response to strikes by the US and Israel. Currently, international publications assess these events as one of the most dangerous military escalations in the region in recent months.
According to reports, the strikes by the Iranians targeted US military infrastructure located in the region. Various sources mention the Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar, Al-Dafra airbase in the UAE, military facilities in Kuwait, and points related to the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain among the targets. Some of this information comes against the backdrop of a rapidly developing situation, and all details have not yet been fully independently confirmed.
According to preliminary information released by Bahrain, a US Fifth Fleet-related service center was hit by a missile. At the same time, reports emerged of explosions and smoke billowing in the Juffay area of Manama - specifically around the location of the naval base. This situation shows that military facilities in the region are becoming not theoretical, but practical targets.
The Ministry of Defense of Qatar reported that several attacks aimed at its territory were successfully repelled. According to some reports, air defense systems were activated and possible damage was prevented. This means that, no matter how tense the situation is, the countries of the region are trying to limit the consequences of the attack.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military also reported large-scale strikes on military targets in Iran. According to Reuters and other major publications, Israel presented this operation as a "preliminary strike" and targeted Iran's military and missile capabilities. The Iranian side stated that it would respond decisively to these actions.
Thus, today's events in the region represent a much larger picture than a simple missile exchange. On one side - coordinated strikes by the US and Israel, on the other - a counter-attack from Iran, aimed at several points. Most alarmingly, this confrontation may take the form of a large-scale crisis affecting the security of the entire region, and not within the framework of a single territory or object.
