Iranian strikes exacerbated tension in the Gulf

The tension in the Middle East entered an even more difficult phase. The Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates reported that Iran struck a naval facility in Abu Dhabi with drones. As a result of the strike, a fire broke out in the warehouse section of the "As-Salam" naval base. In a separate report today, Reuters reported that several infrastructure facilities were damaged after drone and missile debris fell in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and loud explosions were also heard in Abu Dhabi.

The most important point in the UAE defense's statement is that Abu Dhabi openly stated it would not leave this situation unanswered. The official statement stated that the country reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its territory, population, sovereignty, and national interests. This means that the Gulf conflict could now transition from mere observation to a broader phase of military-political responses.

At the same time, alarming news was heard in Iraq. Explosions were observed in the area of the American military base near Arbil Airport during the drone attack. Reuters' information about the bases notes that the Arbil airbase is an important point for the US and coalition forces. Consequently, any offensive in this direction will directly target not only Iraq, but also the US military presence in the region.

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that strikes on US military infrastructure in Kuwait were also carried out. These claims claim serious damage to the al-Salim base. However, not all such statements have yet been confirmed to the same degree of independence. Therefore, it is important to remember the difference between a claim, an official statement, and an independent source.

A similar situation applies to the claim that "six high-ranking CIA officers were killed" in the UAE, which was circulated through Tasnim. So far, Reuters or other major independent international sources have not confirmed this claim. Therefore, it would be more correct to accept this information not as a definitive fact, but as a claim spread by a source close to Iran, which is still awaiting complete independent confirmation.

In short, the drone strike in Abu Dhabi, the explosions around Arbil, and claims regarding Kuwait have brought the crisis in the Middle East to an even more dangerous point. Worst of all, hostilities have now begun to affect not only military facilities, but also large cities, ports, and strategic logistics points. This indicates that every new hour in the region increases the risk of a new escalation.
