Reports are circulating that Israel's military operation against Iran has entered a new phase. According to Reuters sources, the second phase of the operation focuses on destroying underground ballistic missile installations, bunkers, and related infrastructure. This is primarily seen as a step aimed at disrupting Iran's longer-term strike capabilities.
On March 5, the SAHAL also issued a statement about the strikes around Tehran, stating that Iran had attacked an underground facility associated with missile depots intended for storing ballistic missiles and their use against aircraft. It is also noted that the infrastructure of the missile complex was also targeted.
According to reports, in the first phase, the main strikes targeted hundreds of ground-based missile systems, either open or semi-open. Reuters noted that these were systems that could be used to attack Israeli cities. Now, in the second stage, the pressure on underground ballistic missiles, equipment, and fortified warehouses is being increased.
This change is not accidental. According to the analysis of sources, Israel's goal is to gradually weaken Iran's military potential, especially the systematic weakening of missile power. That is, current attacks are seen not as a one-time response, but as a continuation of a longer-term calculated strategy.
Prices for Iran's missile reserves vary. According to figures cited by Reuters and the Economic Times, the Israeli military estimates this arsenal at approximately 2,500, while other analysts estimate this figure to be up to 6,000. This very difference can determine how sharp the further development of the conflict will be.
In short, the situation is not simple: in the first wave, surface targets were destroyed, and now it's Iran's most protected underground missile points. This means that the conflict is not only continuing, but is also moving to an even deeper and more dangerous stage.
