According to European officials and diplomatic circles, the process of diplomatic negotiations on Ukraine has significantly slowed down due to White House leader Donald Trump's focus on military actions related to Iran. This is leading to a weakening of political pressure on Russia.
Geneva talks: Unsuccessful "pause"
In fact, a trilateral meeting with the participation of the USA, Russia, and Ukraine, held in Geneva in mid-February, aroused great hope. Although there has been some progress on technical issues, i.e., steps after the ceasefire, important political agreements have not been reached.

Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, also confirmed that a break in the negotiations has indeed occurred due to a change in American priorities.
Competition for help: Who is first?
Currently, Ukraine and the countries of the Middle East are forced to compete with each other for American military and financial support. According to EU spokesperson Kaya Kallas, delays are being observed in the process of delivering air defense systems and other weapons to Ukraine due to the distraction of Washington's attention.
Russia's unexpected "victories"
The war in the Middle East was an unexpected gift for the Russian economy. As a result of the rise in oil prices, Moscow began to receive additional revenues of up to $150 million daily. Interestingly, the US has temporarily lifted some restrictions on Russian oil to curb fuel prices. President Zelenskyy considers this decision an obstacle to achieving peace.
Trump and Zelenskyy: Complex Relations
In an interview with NBC News, Trump did not shy away from criticizing the Ukrainian leader. In his opinion, reaching an agreement with Zelenskyy is much more difficult than with Putin.
"Let Zelenskyy come to an agreement, because that's what Putin wants," the US president said.
However, the Russian side is not in a hurry to make concessions. Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized that he will not back down from the military path to fully seize Donbass. Kyiv is confident that Russia is using these negotiations solely to maintain ties with Trump and avoid new sanctions.
