Sri Lanka transitions to a four-day work week

While conflicts in the Middle East are impacting the global economy, the Sri Lankan government is implementing new measures to reduce fuel consumption.

It is reported that the country is now planning to switch to a four-day work week system. According to this decree, every Wednesday is designated as an official day off for government agencies, public sector enterprises, and educational institutions.

According to experts, this step is primarily aimed at reducing transportation costs and fuel consumption. Because it is expected that gasoline and diesel fuel consumption will decrease significantly due to reduced mobility of employees and students.

At the same time, it is noted that this decision is also related to the existing problems in the country's economy, in particular, the shortage of energy resources. Recently, rising fuel prices in global markets and supply disruptions have forced some countries to take austerity measures.

According to analysts, this experience, implemented by Sri Lanka, can serve as an example for other countries. If this system proves effective, it is likely that more countries will take similar measures in the future.
