The US sent Iran a 15-point plan

The United States has sent Iran a 15-point proposal aimed at stopping the war in the Middle East, according to The New York Times, which cited two informed officials. The report said the document was delivered to Iranian leaders through Pakistan and includes steps meant to reduce tensions after weeks of military strikes. Reports Dw.com.

Israeli broadcaster N12 reported that the plan calls on Iran to give up any effort to develop nuclear weapons and transfer its stockpile of enriched uranium to the International Atomic Energy Agency. Axios also reported that US envoy Stephen Witkoff told President Donald Trump that Iran had accepted several important parts of the proposal, including the transfer of highly enriched uranium. Tehran has not publicly confirmed that claim.

The position of Israel on the reported plan remains unclear. The United States and Israel have been carrying out strikes on Iran for four weeks. On March 23, Trump said he had held productive talks with Iranian leaders and ordered a five-day pause in attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure. Iran denied that any negotiations had taken place.

Separately, Iran’s Foreign Ministry told the UN Security Council and the International Maritime Organization on March 24 that “non-hostile” ships may pass through the Strait of Hormuz if they coordinate in advance with Tehran and follow announced safety rules. About 20 percent of global oil and LNG supplies normally move through the strait, but traffic has been severely disrupted by the conflict.
