Xi Jinping expressed a firm stance against Taiwan's independence

Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed his firm position on the situation with Taiwan. During a meeting with the leader of the Taiwanese opposition, he emphasized that the island's pursuit of independence poses a serious threat to regional stability.
According to the head of state, the people living on both sides of the strait are actually representatives of a single nation. They must share a common history, culture, and values, and live in harmony as one family.
"The compatriots on both sides of the Strait are all Chinese." We are one family that wants peace, progress, and cooperation. If the family is united, all aspects will flourish. Taiwan's independence is the main culprit undermining peace in the strait—we will never tolerate this and will not turn a blind eye to it," the Chinese leader stated firmly.
For many years, official Beijing has viewed Taiwan as an integral part of its territory and strictly rejects any attempts aimed at its independence. Therefore, the tension surrounding this issue remains the focus of the international community.
