Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, U.S. naval vessels have entered the Persian Gulf region through the Strait of Hormuz.
It is reported that the warships "Frank E Petersen" and "Michael Murphy" were sent to perform the task of neutralizing mines installed in the area. These mines are believed to have been planted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The primary objective of the operation is to reopen the strategic maritime corridor, which has been blocked for the past six weeks. This corridor is of great importance for the global energy market, and its closure is said to have caused a sharp increase in global oil prices.
