Tragedy during the hunt: American millionaire trampled to death by elephants

Ernie Dozio, a 75-year-old American millionaire, was killed as a result of an elephant attack during a hunt in the territory of Gabon, Africa. The Daily Mail reported this.
It became known that the entrepreneur was inside a tropical forest accompanied by an experienced hunter. They unexpectedly encountered a herd of five female elephants with a calf.
The wild animals perceived the humans as a threat and immediately launched an attack. Dozio's companion fell, sustained serious injuries, and dropped his weapon. Although the millionaire himself was armed with a hunting rifle, he did not have time to defend himself and was trampled to death by the elephants.
Currently, the U.S. Embassy in Gabon is handling the matter of returning the deceased's body to California.
Experts note that elephants typically rarely attack humans. However, such incidents primarily occur during unexpected encounters in dense forests, especially when there are calves in the herd.
At the same time, the Associated Press reported that on April 18, two U.S. servicemen were injured in Alaska after encountering a bear at a training range. It was noted that the bear attacked the soldiers during training exercises on April 16. They used pepper spray to defend themselves.
