An unexpected incident took place at an event attended by US President Donald Trump. On 25 April, reports emerged that an unidentified person opened fire at the Washington Hilton hotel.
According to reports, the incident occurred during the traditional evening dinner of the White House Correspondents' Association. At that moment, hundreds of guests were in the hall awaiting the president's speech. As a result, security services immediately took measures and cordoned off the main areas of the building.
Witnesses say they heard 5 to 8 gunshots. According to preliminary information, the armed individual did not directly enter the dinner hall but operated in another part of the hotel.
In addition to the president, the event was attended by high-ranking officials such as Melania Trump, JD Vance, Pete Hegseth, and Marco Rubio. They and other guests were promptly evacuated.
Later, White House officials announced that the suspect had been detained. The president himself confirmed this, particularly emphasizing the swift and decisive actions of the security agencies.
Due to the incident, scheduled meetings were postponed. Currently, an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
