Man Who Swam 55 Hours Without Sleep Conquers the Baltic Sea (Video)

Polish ultramarathon swimmer Bartłomiej Kubkowski once again demonstrated the limits of human ability. On his fifth attempt, the athlete successfully swam across the Baltic Sea, covering nearly 160 kilometers without stopping.
Meduza According to Meduza, Kubkowski set off from the Swedish coast on July 31. For nearly 55 hours he continued swimming without resting for a single minute, sleeping, or touching the support boat. Finally, on August 2, he reached the shore of Dziwnów in Poland.
During the swim, food and water were delivered to the athlete from the support boat through a special tube. However, under international rules, he did not climb aboard or even touch the boat with his hand.
This was Kubkowski’s fifth attempt to cross the Baltic Sea; his previous four efforts had ended unsuccessfully. This time, he achieved his goal and set another significant record.
The swim was carried out as part of the Ultra Baltic Swim project. The project was organized to support patients battling cancer, and donations were also collected during the swim.
It is worth noting that another Polish athlete, Sebastian Karaś, had previously swum across the Baltic Sea. In 2017, he covered the 100-kilometer distance between Poland and Denmark’s Bornholm Island in 28.5 hours.
Bartłomiej Kubkowski’s new achievement is being recognized not only as one of the major accomplishments in the history of ultramarathon swimming, but also as a striking example of human willpower and perseverance.
